The Second Disc began as a WordPress.com hosted blog. After five years, the site had long outgrown those humble origins. In conjunction with its fifth anniversary, the blog launched a record label, and the team decided it was time to become a more robust website.
Metaglyphics designed a fun, retro interface, catering to the client’s affinity for mid-century, atomic-era design. We developed an enhanced taxonomy to help categorize an archive of several thousand reviews and news items into genres and formats, making it possible to filter the site down to specific topics.
We also developed as a centerpiece of the site, an enhanced release calendar, which allows the site to provide a comprehensive list of upcoming releases, filterable by artist and genre, and including affiliate links to purchase items, significantly boosting affiliate commissions for the site.
